Eldorado Canyon State Park, a short drive from Boulder, CO, is immediately impressive. Cliffs tower overhead as you enter.
South Boulder Creek flows below in the bottom of the canyon.

We decided to hike Fowler Trail, which winds along the cliff edge. It offers great views of the creek gushing below and the peaks above, including many climbers scaling the rock faces.

Fall was in full swing when we visited. The colors were stunning.

Fowler Trail follows the route of an abandoned railway venture, which is why the path travels through two large cuts in the rock wall. It is also why the trail is very flat.
We really enjoyed the iron-rich rock coloration here.
On our way back, it started sprinkling. The sunlight through the rain was beautiful.
At about 4Β miles total (2 out and 2 back), Fowler TrailΒ is a short but beautiful day hike. We had a great time!
It’s so nice you live close to such beauty and that you share it with all of us. I really enjoy the photos- it’s my visual vacation. My best to you both.
