To create this spectacular book, we hiked the entire 2660-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. Living in the wilderness for over five months, Chris photographed the starkly beautiful deserts of southern California, the deep blue alpine lakes and snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the volcanoes and lush forests of Oregon and Washington. The journey was challenging, inspiring, and visually stunning.
Chris’s landscape photographs portray the essence of each section of the Pacific Crest Trail. Every image is powerful. Viewed in sequence, these photographs take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful and compelling landscapes in the world.
“Pacific Crest Trail is a stunning visual trek into the still-Wild West as John Muir experienced it more than a century ago, from unchanged deserts to the Sierra’s granite-bound lakes to the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. Few of us will ever undertake this epic adventure, but this book might just inspire you to do it. A great gift for anyone who loves the great outdoors!” — David D. Schmidt, owner and guide, California Nature Tours.
“Chris Alexander reveals why we hike. His photographs capture the wonder of a traveler deeply attuned to his surroundings at every step, from Mexico to Canada. This book will re-charge wanderlust in avid hikers and offer everyone an opportunity to experience the visual majesty of the Pacific Crest Trail.” — Jen Christion Myers, Team Leader, Big City Mountaineers
“Just opened your #PCTrail coffee table book! It’s FANTASTIC.” — Pacific Crest Trail Association
“Chris is a magnificent photographer and he’s captured the beauty of the trail, like I haven’t seen in a book of photographs before. It is simply breathtaking…” — Scott “Shroomer” Williams (PCT 2010, CDT 2012)
